Clean Sport Principles
and Values

The principles and values associated with clean sport seek to protect the spirit and integrity of sport including respecting the rules of the game, respecting your fellow competitors, fair competition, and having a level playing field. This extends to preventing intentional and unintentional doping.

Part of our goal is to encourage and empower everyone – not just athletes, but also coaches, administrators, medical staff and all athlete support personnel – to promote and foster clean and fair environments. We want to emphasize the spirit of sport, entrenched in the concept of Olympism – the celebration of the human spirit, body and mind, and how we can play true.

The values related to sport include:

  1. Health
  2. Ethics, fair play, honesty
  3. Athletes’ Rights (as set forth in the Code)
  4. Excellence
  5. Character and education
  6. Fun and joy of effort
  7. Teamwork
  8. Dedication and commitment
  9. Respect for rules and laws
  10. Respect for self and other participants
  11. Courage
  12. Community and solidarity

A #CleanSport environment is one where the health of athletes is protected; where athletes are provided with equal opportunity to pursue excellence without the use of prohibited substance or methods. The use of prohibited substances or methods to enhance performance is dishonest and detrimental to the overall spirit, integrity, image and value of sport and athlete’s health.

We want to maintain the integrity of sport across the Caribbean through comprehensive anti-doping programs that focus equally on education, awareness and prevention; robust testing; and good governance.
