Notable Athletes
Trinidad and Tobago made its debut in the 1948 Olympics, Weightlifter Rodney Wilkes won a silver medal in the Men’s Featherweight. From then until 2016, they have amassed 19 medals, particularly in athletics. Gold medalists include Hasely Crawford, Men’s 100 meters in 1976, Men’s 4×100 Men’s Relay team in 2008 and Keshorn Walcott, Men’s Javelin in 2012.
In the 2019 Pan American Games Trinidad and Tobago earned 12 medals, 2 Gold, 8 Silver and 2 Bronze. Below are some of the highlights – Keshorn Walcott took silver in the men’s javelin, the Men’s 4x400m team claimed bronze and cyclist Teniel Campbell grabbed a silver medal.
Michelle-Lee Ahye earned Silver in the Women’s 100 meter.
